The universe is your playground.

APEX Vanguard

The Goal?

The main goal of this advertisement campaign was to create a product that appealed to consumers via the use of visuals and metaphor.

The consumers (target audience)? Teens and young adults in high school and in college.

The metaphor? “The universe is your playground.”

The visuals? A poster, a packaging box and a commercial.

For campaign deliverables, I used Photoshop for both the poster and box mock-up. The console was modeled in Maya and it was then textured in Blender. The final commercial was animated in Blender and put together in Adobe Premiere and After Effects.

The Deliverables

Advertisement Poster

For the poster, I really wanted to push the idea of the metaphor “The universe is your playground.” I did this by placing the console in the grass under the night sky. The background with the land and volcano adds to the overall feeling of the piece. I used cooler colors for the whole design because they are typically associated with calmer emotions. There are also some moons in the sky that are exaggerated in size to further push the metaphor.

Product Box

For the box, I had the same goals for what I wanted to accomplish. For this particular box, it is the purple version of the console which is called the “Infinity Edition.” This was the main inspiration that led to the whole aesthetic of the console being space themed.

Social Media Posts

The social media posts are images that would be shown on the “sponsored posts” section of several social media sites. In this particular example, this is what they would look like Instagram.

The Commercial - Go Time

The commercial is the main form of advertisement that consumers are going to be seeing. The commercial would be shown on TV and it would also be shown on streaming websites like YouTube and Twitch.tv which are both places that have a large population of high school and college student followers.

Early Idea - Inspiration

This rocket is a 3D model that I made early on in the production process. I decided mid-way that I did not want to use it, however it did serve as some inspiration for what I would eventually make. This animation is a fully textured version of the original rocket that I made and has some fire and smoke added to show more modeling detail.
