Quiet is Violent

Dialogue Poster

What is this?

Quiet is Violent is an art piece that is meant to show how overwhelming some thoughts are that might race through one’s mind while they are alone in silence with nothing to distract them. The words used in the composition come from lyrics used in a song, a recipe for a “happy life” and from an excerpt from a book.

When isolated in silence, some people will try to overcompensate for the lack of sound by overanalyzing everything from the mundane tasks in their daily lives all the way to the larger questions about life and death that cannot be answered.

The white background in the art piece is meant to represent the tranquility and purity that you first experience when in silence and the bold, black words represent the intrusive thoughts that will eventually start to fill your mind as you start to overanalyze everything.

The different fonts used represent all the different thoughts that are constantly going through your mind and the rapid speed at which these thoughts are being perceived.

The figure on the lower right of the art piece is a heavily edited image of someone who is screaming while trying to rip off a ski mask, seemingly trapped.
